The International Make-up Academy | Week 2

Hey guys,

So I've just had class number two at The International Make-up Academy in Dublin. It was so much fun, I probably said that in the last TIMA post too, but seriously I am having a ball! In this weeks class we dabbled in High-Fashion and Avant Garde looks. For the fashion make-up we just learned a quick and simple smokey metallic eye look that would be perfect for a Spring/ Summer 2014 runway show as it's clean-cut, simple, and most importantly - not time consuming at all. (Also it looks really striking and beautiful in person).

As for Avant Garde. This was totally new territory for me and to be quite honest I found it hard to choose from the millions of wild ideas in my head and found myself kind of winging it during the make-up application process (a big no no!). I decided to go with a black and gold smokey eye with loooooads of gold built up almost like a mask around the eye and eyebrow area too. Then I matched that "mask" with a gold lip, and used a black, matte, eye shadow to contour the cheek bones and brought it up to the hairline and through the temples too. There was SOOO much blending involved so that the black lines would not be too harsh. It turned out quite futuristic and robotic looking.

I am quite happy with what I learned in todays class and hopefully next time I hear the words Avant Garde, I wont quiver in fear and get confused about what look I'm trying to achieve. For now, I will leave you with some snaps from the day.
